Past Projects

Co-Founder, Institute for Healing & Justice in Medicine

Primary Author, Towards the Abolition of Biological Race in Medicine: Transforming Clinical Education, Research, and Practice

The Institute for Healing & Justice in Medicine is a research institute that works towards a new medicine that is centered on healing, community, and justice. It published the inaugural report Towards the Abolition of Biological Race in Medicine: Transforming Clinical Education, Research, and Practice, which spurred national advocacy to eradicate racism from clinical algorithms affecting patient care in medicine and public health. As a result, major academic medicine institutions, professional associations, and hospitals nationwide such as Harvard, UCSF, UW have modified their algorithms for kidney disease, lung disease, and chronic disease. Activism has led congressmembers Warren, Wyden, Booker, and Lee to propose legislation and national reviews on the use of race-based clinical algorithms in standard medical practices.

Founder, Freedom School for Intersectional Medicine & Health Justice

The Freedom School for Intersectional Medicine & Health Justice is a community of students, professors, and community members involved in medicine, public health, and health justice work. We are dedicated to creating an intersectional medicine and public health that is community-centered and advocates for the collective liberation and healing for all people, especially those most vulnerable and marginalized in society.

Founder & Host, Woke WOC Docs

As the founder and co-host of Woke WOC Docs, I curated content of ongoing biweekly podcast series that seeks to engage current and aspiring women of color in medicine with real and diverse stories, conversations, and lived experiences on what it means to hold the identity of a woman of color in the medical field and health justice work. I published bi-weekly interview episodes with physicians, residents, and medical students discussing critical sociopolitical and ethical issues in medicine and health justice work. Through organic marketing, WWD has reached 80,000+ plays and 2,000+ subscribers worldwide on SoundCloud, iTunes, and Spotify.

Herbal Medicine Apprentice

Soul Flower Farm School of Earth Medicine

Indigi Golden Herbals Academy

I’ve participated in two herbal medicine and beginner farmer apprenticeship programs at Soul Flower Farm in El Sobrante, CA and with Indigi Golden Herbals Academy. Through these experiences, I bring knowledge on how various herbal teas, blends, and botanical medicines that are local and Native to geographic areas can help address community health issues and dis-ease. Herbalism has also brought me closer to nature, to slowness, and given me a deeper understanding of the wonders of our body in connection to how Earth medicine can support its healing.
